In 1724 a William Austin was ordered by the Vestry of St. Paul's Parish to help maintain a road. This is probably the same William Austin, who according to family tradition, was twice married, and had 3 sons by the first wife and one son by the second wife.
There may have been other children, including a daughter who was said to have
married an Anthony, children possibly Charles or Mark. Another daughter was disinherited because she married against her father's will. Her
brother William Jr., supposedly gave her his portion of the inheritance, and they removed to Bedford
County, Virginia.
