AFAOA Project Case # 26 Is a Possible Native American Freedman, not proven, not on Dawes Roll. Resident in Choctaw Nation vicinity of OK in 1910. Note by H. Austin 2010. Although all census show Willis and family as black, there are many similarities to the Choctaw Freedmen. No application to the Dawes Commission for this Willis has been found by this researcher. However, a record may exist for this family.

Note the Austin family next door Dwelling 548, Fam 554 is Southey Austin, 52, m, b, farm laborer b GA and Julia 45, b, keeping house, b VA; Children - James 20, Harry 17, Albert 15, Seeley 14, Mary F and Nathaniel, all born in TX. The name Seeley is a MS Choctaw name. This 1870 census is not positively proven as the family of Willis Austin of the 1880, 1900, 1910 Census, below."
