RESEARCH AUSTIN FAMILIES

Our Databases

We maintain 70 different family groups in our database. Each family is headed by a progenitor -- the person who came to the United States. In some cases, we have been able to find common ancestors for some of our progenitors using DNA.

Ready to Research?

We maintain our database online using a program called The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding (TNG). It is completely free to use for non-profit researchers, and no account is required.

Our Digital Collection

AFAOA has entered into a partnership with Allen County Public Library of Fort Wayne, Indiana. ACPL's Genealogy Center is in the process of scanning and digitizing AFAOA's entire collection of correspondence, research, and notebooks dating back to AFAOA's founding in 1942. This material will be made available to researchers around the world. It also ensures that AFAOA's priceless archive will be preserved in perpetuity.

ACPL is already displaying many of AFAOA's special digital collections. We encourage you to visit (and bookmark) the AFAOA collection home page. More items will be added as the scanning process progresses. All items will also be visible using the ACPL-Genealogy Center's main search box.

Looking for Surnames?

Sometimes it helps to look for the surnames of spouses, or surnames in particular places at particular times.
